Sometimes, we may encounter hurdles in life. We may think that we would be stuck in the same position our entire life. Brody Malone is an artistic gymnast who represents the United States men’s national artistic gymnastics team.
Malone started his journey as a gymnast when he enrolled in gymnastics at three years old. During his time, he lost his mother, and then stepmother. His gymnastics career started in 2015 when he placed seventh at the National Championships. In 2016, he won silver in vault and parallel bars, and bronze in rings. During the 2017 US National Championships, he won the all-around competition, winning gold in multiple events.
Fast forward to July 2023, while performing in the event finals, he suffered a knee injury while dismounting in horizontal bars. This injury then gave uncertainty to his career. He had to go through 3 surgeries, several weeks of laying in bed, and a year of rehabilitation. Malone stated himself, that he was unsure if he could make a comeback.
Later in 2024, Malone came back at the 2024 Winter Cup and competed in the 2024 National Championships where he won third as an all-arounder. He then competed for the Paris 2024 Olympics and won bronze. He said to NBC, “I just have to give all the glory to God, It’s all Him, and, yeah, it’s all God. So I just want to thank Him for this. … I’m just so grateful for everything that God’s done for me.”
We can see Malone’s resilience in times of uncertainty. An injury never stopped him from persevering, he only tried his best for the Lord.
